So for those of you that don’t know… I’m allergic to nuts and dairy and have been since I was born - I actually go into anaphylactic shock so I try my best to be super careful with everything including cross contamination. This does give me some anxiety going out to new places but I try not to let it hold me back whenever possible. So here are the restaurants I ate at, what I got, and a little bit about my experience at each place :) 1. Liberty Bagels - Diablo Bagel: choice of bagel, avocado, cucumber, cilantro, grilled chicken, Chipotle mayo (I didn’t get this). Super delicious but I did feel nervous that there would be cross contamination since it’s so busy and so many bagels being made. I don’t think the person wrote down my allergies to the bagel makers so I just made sure to keep a close eye but always ask when you order! 2. Sushi Omakase - Chicken Teriyaki. Sushi restaurants are generally dairy/nut free so no worries here. 3. Din Tai Fung - felt so at ease here. Our server knew the allergens of every item on the menu and told me right away what was safe. They also made a note to the kitchen and announced what allergens as they brought each dish in 4. Sadelles - great food but personally not my most allergy friendly experience. They knew what did and didn’t have dairy but they served my bagel on a plate with a cream cheese tin and didn’t take it off so the bagel accidentally got some on the side and this made me wonder a bit about cross contamination in the kitchen for my salad! 10/10 salad though very filling 5. Osteria Nonnino - our server Al was amazing. He basically was like whatever you see on the menu we can likely accommodate you and take care of any substitutions so I got salmon and they were super careful. Also reassured me a bunch about butter 😅 6. Rosa’s - such a good experience!! Also very accommodating and great chips 7. @MadeGoodFoods these SAVED me when I needed a quick snack. So allergen friendly and so good! 8. Piccola Cucina Casa (Brooklyn) - so so accommodating and reassuring about allergies. Brought me special bread with olive oil instead of m focaccia which had dairy so I could also have bread with everyone! 9. @Nature’s Bakery my breakfast when I didn’t have time to grab anything and also a great snack when walking around NYC. So many flavors and great for fiber! 10. Last two were my airplane meals - Newark Airport has some great vegan and dairy free grab and go food options which can be hard to find!
