@rekhalshankar: Hi everyone! We are closing in on one of the biggest aspects of pre-production: casting. And casting our main character’s Tamil family is a huge step. A fun fact is the only time I’ve ever heard Tamil on American TV is the Parents episode of Master of None (he says “grandpa”) and on an episode of Top Chef where Padma brings her mom on as a guest for the Quickfire (I used to rewind it and rewatch?) I cried both times because it felt like an out of body experience. AND I FAMOUSLY DON’T EVEN SPEAK IT?? Anyway that’s why having Tamil in this movie is so important to me. I think it’s such a part of my upbringing (despite the fact that it’s actually humanly impossible for me to learn it) and will make the movie feel all the more real and specific (note: not everyone in India speaks Hindi!!!) So please send us your favorite people! We cannot wait to watch their auditions / I will probably cry?
