Say what u want but those mercury bulls stats and the old power hogs will run for 50 years while these new ones will run a year or 2 before u start losing boards and inverters because they will go out if u have a brown out or a power drop. So the all new units need some work asap

High efficiency units will save power but not dollars. Between initial costs and inevitable repair due to so many parts that can break, they'll always cost more in the long run. And that old casket style Ruud unit was famous for longevity.

I’ve always been of the feeling that the people who say the old stuff is better just don’t want to spend the time to learn how the new stuff works, everything is changing and it’s our jobs to keep up and understand how they work. I do refrigeration and it’s all new CO2 racks, it’s different, the old and new stuff both work just with different/more parts. Heat pumps aren’t bad people just don’t like them because they are either too complicated for them or it’s not the heat they are used to.
