@i2c_jason: This is the world’s simplest introduction to learning 3D parametric CAD. Here’s how to conceptually make a rectangular mounting plate. #cad #DIY #project #engineering #education
I can show you guys how to do CAD, just always figured everyone who follows me probably already uses it. I’ll show a few things across skill levels but mostly introductory level.

I have an electrical engineering background, but I've always been involved in creating products and the one thing I can tell you is that the best thing I ever did was sign up for four or five different Udemy courses on inventor and solid works training. The ability to mark up even simple designs into a parametric design is a huge benefit. It not only saves time, but empower as you communicate your concepts, so effectively to vendors manufacturers and clients.

There’s a free version of Fusion 360 for hobbyists, and hundreds of tutorials on YT. It’s a fantastic tool for 3D printing.

Learning it, pretty proficient after five years of practicing. I’m charging $65 an hour and I’m getting work. as my skills improve, I will go up in price. I love making prototypes for others and myself

I have my own business max I have charged is 60 70 ish an hour. I use solidworks I help clients design complete products like enclosed/atv and weldments frame trailers and stuff. Should I charge more ? Am I underselling myself ?

The hard part is actually making parametric parts where you can change features and don't end up breaking the whole model. It's also extremely helpful when making part families that all have the same features and demensions are a derivative from the basic size of the part. When you do it correctly you can change 1 or 2 base demensions and change the whole part because of that change.

having a load of fun making mini pc cases. when I first heard the term parametric I thought it was some fancy way to use CAD, but I was already doing it

Professionals are meant for professional work not for simplistic work. Its like paying a Dr. to wipe the floor clean. Tho, my uni does that.

Dxf for laser, and don’t sketch the holes, if they need to be modified (couterbored / countersunk or threaded), a separate feature is the smarter way.
