I was laying beside her, crying so hard I could barely get the words out as I sang “Hometown Glory.” I remember holding her, begging the world not to take her from me, feeling like if I just sang loud enough or loved her hard enough, she would stay. This song shatters me now, because it drags me right back to that moment… to the tears, the fear, the way my heart broke while hers was slipping away. Her last words to me were, “It’s going to be okay, you’re so pretty, I love you.” I cling to them like they’re all I have left of her. I would give anything, anything in this world, to lay beside her again, to hear her say those words in her voice instead of just in my memory. 😞💔💔💔
