I always used plastic shopping bags as garbage bags, and now I have to buy a box of garbage bags instead. Meanwhile, I’ve ended up with a ton of reusable bags. People always say, 'why don’t you just bring your bags when you shop?' and I do try, but sometimes you make an unplanned stop on the way home and don’t have them with you. At this point, I just load the groceries into my car and bag them at home to bring inside.

Take your groceries to the car put them in the car, then drive home, grab a bag then bag them in your driveway, then take them in the house. Stop with the thought that you have to bag them in the grocery store.

we still use ours as garbage bags! they're the worst to hold moist things so I try to keep it for dry rubbish but someone in the house keeps putting used teabags in there!!😐

"you know they're reusable right", "you can put them back in your car" listen. I work at a large grocery chain. I'm telling you these reusable bags are WAY MORE WASTEFUL than plastic. it doesn't matter if some remember to do it, 90% of people end up buying bags, even if they bring some. usually, they dont bring enough, or most of the time the acerage person will forget them all together and have to buy more. And the thing is, these fabric bags are polyester, which is JUST THICKER PLASTIC. with the added benefit of being washable, so you can release microplastics into the waterways. the thin plastic grocery bags were far less wasteful in reality, because most people would actually re use them and keep them. and now people buy plastic bags in bulk for what they used to use grocery bags for.

depending on the material of the reusable bag, it can take anywhere from 10 uses to 150 uses for it to be better for the environment than a single use paper or plastic bag.

If you’re someone that orders your groceries online and don’t have the ability to go to the store sometimes, they always give you new bags. Some of us get stuck with a bunch of reusable bags like that
