Most listeners can’t hear the difference. Only guitar players can tell when they play but even then, it won’t make you play any better.

I mean the expensive fender sounds more “clear” for sure. But I personally feel there is a point of diminishing returns in guitar prices. Like 2k is my ceiling. Realistically the quality beyond that isn’t going to get that much better between brands.

Showing up to a jam with a Squier and totally nailing it is priceless. All the "I've been playing for 6 years so I know ball" guitarists get real quiet when they have to scoop up their melted face.

if they cheap strat has a good neck without needing a lot of work then new pickups and tuners and you have a great guitar for around $700

If you just need a Strat sound, Squier. If you want an instrument that’s built to exact spec as a vintage one, like in the video, and appreciate that aspect, Fender CS all the way. My Buddy Holly Masterbuilt
