If they wanted to see the Bible used as a weapon, then they should have met my family when I was growing up with them.These people had me so convinced that jesus christ was gonna chase me down the street because I was a bad child that for the longest time , I actually hated him. in a weird way I kinda owe it to them for putting me on the path where I met sarah kate the girl that I almost married that I actually dated for twenty two months. it was because of her that I started reading books as well as studying various things and yes she was a part of the group of people I used to be a part of. ultimately, I think that pathways meant to leave me back to the church.\nIt also forced me to open my eyes to and that there are a lot more things than we dream of in our philosophies

Spot on! I am a Bible believing Christian but I do not believe we should judge others who have different views so harshly, (ie, it is one thing to say that someone has done wrong but it is a whole different ball of wax to say that someone has done more wrong than I have therefore I am a better person than you), and condemning everyone who holds different Christian beliefs is just plain egotistical and very poor form indeed!

here's the thing you have to understand people weaponize the Bible to try to get people in line it's like this our only jobs as followers of Christ is to get people to come to Christ not to judge not to pass judgment Christ will do that himself we don't need to help him in that department but when you constantly tell people they're going to hell if they don't do this or do that it doesn't matter what their sin is it will come in their time and they will figure it out when Jesus is ready for them to figure it out he doesn't expect an automatic change overnight

I can see it your way and I think there are many on the right that do try to use it correctly. I will also say that there are many on the right that use that excuse to be hateful towards other people...all in the name of Christianity. Calling out the sin of others is supposed to be done carefully and with love... and only after we have taken care of our own sin first.

I have a slightly different take. I've heard it that the "go and sin no more" lady was being wrongly accused (or overly punished) and He basically sent her on her way almost dismissively, while turning more ire to those chasing her. He knew everyone sins even when they try not to (Romans 7:15-25), so she would sin even though He said not to. Also Romans 3:20 (works with 7:15-25) and Cor5:1-5 (more so 5 with the rest of the context) implies people will sin and fall short of God's plan. We should try not to, and not celebrate people sinning, but on the same token I've seen way more condemnation of gay than theft and fornication, way more for theft and fornication than gluttony, and way more for gluttony than sloth. That's what irks me. I'm not saying to push LGBLT$7&#^*ų, I'm saying to equally condemn all sin but do so with compassion as no one will perfectly match what God wants.
