⚠️ This man followed us from Roadhouse Basantapur dheki till i started recording this. The entire time, he was staring directly at my face not casually, not briefly ,but intensely and creepily, as if he had every right to invade my personal space. He kept coming closer and closer, making it extremely uncomfortable , and we didnot feel safe AT ALL ( me and my 13 year old cousin) This wasn’t just a “weird” encounter. It was frightening. It was violating. It was something no woman should ever have to experience. And yet —we do. ALL. THE. TIME. Being followed, stared at, catcalled, touched, or cornered in public has become such a regular part of our lives that many people just brush it off “oh, that’s just how it is.” LITERALLY LIKE TF? But this is not normal. This is not okay. And most importantly this is not safe. Public spaces in Kathmandu (and elsewhere) are becoming increasingly unsafe for women. We don’t feel protected walking to a restaurant, going home, or even existing in public without being made to feel like prey. And when we speak up? We’re told we’re “overreacting.” We are not overreacting. We are surviving. To the people who excuse this behavior, stay silent, or blame the victim , you are part of the problem. To the women reading this: You are not alone. Your discomfort is real. Your fear is valid. And your voice matters. To all the ladies and men too , please share your experiences. The world needs to know how common this is, and how deeply it affects us. These aren’t just random moments as they leave lasting scars. Speaking up is the first step toward change. #NotJustOneTime #EverydayHarassment #KathmanduStreets #WomensSafety #CallItOut
