Story Time!
Last October, I came across a posting about a Disneyland audition. Ever since I was young, my ultimate dream has been to perform in a theater, dressed up as one of those magical characters. So, to make the story short—yes, I auditioned! My husband and I traveled all the way from Baguio to Manila, leaving at 12 midnight and arriving around 6 AM. As early as 6:30, the line outside the venue in Makati was already so long. My husband volunteered to hold our spot in line while I freshened up in the restroom (kasi imagine, galing pa kami sa byahe). When I came back, I noticed he was chatting with a guy in line. Later, I found out this man used to be part of the Hong Kong Disneyland cast. He was amazed by my husband’s height (6’1 ft) and mentioned that Disneyland usually looks for that kind of height for casting. He even encouraged my husband to audition. But the funny thing is—my husband didn’t plan to! He was literally just there to support me, and he wasn’t prepared at all. He was even wearing slippers! 😅 Still, the guy insisted, and eventually, my husband gave in. He rushed to a nearby computer shop, printed a quick resume, and just in time, we both went inside the venue together. When they started calling out names for those shortlisted—guess what? Tadaaa! It was my husband who got called! He was asked to stay and fill out documents while I waited for him to finish. That moment taught me something: no matter how much you want something, if it’s not meant for you, it won’t happen. But when it is meant for you, it will come to you—even without trying so hard. And honestly, I was genuinely happy for him. Sharing this now because Disneyland is hiring cast members again—and this memory just makes me smile. 💛✨
