Filth. A stench that neighbors had smelled through the door for years. The animals bred uncontrollably, surviving however they could. And the most terrifying part is—everyone knew. And they stayed silent. The cats are sitting on open windowsills, teetering on the brink of falling. One had already fallen out previously... and was left permanently disabled. The puppies—terrified, filthy, with bloated bellies, infested with fleas, and running fevers of nearly 40°C. We were only able to take four of them—exactly as many as physically fit into our carrier... another three were taken in by a fellow volunteer. They are currently at the veterinary clinic. They are free of infectious diseases—and that is the only good news. But ahead lies treatment, hospitalization, and recovery... And back there, another 4 or 5 dogs and the cats remain. As of now, our debt already stands at $4,600 and that covers only the first few hours. Hospitalization costs run about $800 per day for the entire group. I beg of you... please help us save them. Any amount—no matter how small—offers them a chance.
