okay do the multiply layer again but use a color (like reds or blues) instead of black‐ using a color for the shadow helps sets the tone for an image and unifies all the pieces. never use black for shadows!

Hey is this possible with procreate? I can’t set the group to multiply and I’m not sure what’s happening with the shadows layer. All it looks like is that my base colors become unsaturated or lighter and the shadow is what the color initially was. Also is the shadow opacity control white or is that what it looks like when it’s blank?

you should use a shadow color that's reflective of the environment. If there isnt one, blue or purple tend to work well (because of the sky is what I was told but idk)

Nice tip! I just mix a copy of the flats with the shadow, and maybe tint the shadow also a bit with some color.

I used to apply multiply layer for shadows, and tend to use more than 2 layers to make the shadows deeper. but now I prefer using linear burn with different opacity, it works better for my style
