Iconic figures have a right to publicity, to control how their legacy is represented and used. As we push forward into the future with AI-generated content, this is the unfortunate circumstance that can happen, and will happen, when technology allows anyone to exploit another person’s identity. When AI is used to turn legacies into racist memes, that is not creativity it is exploitation.
