I used to tell my cashiers when I worked retail to make the change and close the till. If they want to make change out of other cash they have then you count it and make the change again and close the till. That way you know exactly what you’re counting.

Someone tried to do this to me while cashiering in a restaurant and I was instantly suspicious because why are you coming into a restaurant to get change??? especially because there was a bank right next door.

I was arguing with a guy who insisted I didn't give him his dime. Change like that came out of a little machine we didn't handle it. The manager steps up and berated me in front of about 20 people. She then proceeded to get bamboozled out of 20 dollars. I asked her to count the register after he left. 😂🤣🤣🤣 she was so pissed.
