@startupslick: Diesel engines are simpler than gasoline engines. A gas engine needs spark, compression, and fuel to run. A diesel? Just compression and fuel. No spark plugs, no ignition coils, no extra ignition system to fail or diagnose. #diesel #carfacts #trucktok #engineering #engines
modern diesels are unfortunately more complex i think

People need to stop spreading this misinformation up until the 90s diesels were more simple but now days they are way more complicated and there are many different ways their fuel system can function. Spark plugs coils and distributors are very very simple things and are not complicated at all

it really depends on what kind of engine setup you have going for you. The most common Falls on a diesel is most likely leaks or seals because of the high compression and forced induction. while in gasoline engines, it's most likely the pumps or Spark plug. over 50% of the cars that have been sitting for 10 years, you only need to put new gas in it if it's a gasoline engine after the 2000 middle years of cars engines, especially gasoline has become very simple and easy to fix.

On old diesel engines I just spray WD-40 in it and crank it to see if it’ll run if it starts I bleed the fuel system
