I'm a CNA and one of my patients with dementia been accusing me of taking her shoes and she will be so mad at me trying to hit me but a few minutes later she be so happy with me 🫂

First, anyone that steals from Elderly is disgusting. That being said, I'm a charge nurse in a memory care facility. I hear accusations of theft daily. Every single time, the item was just put away in a different spot. A lot of people don't understand just how common it is for someone with dementia to "hide" items then forget where they put them. I can't imagine calling the police everytime one of my residents thought something was stolen.
