@rocksforthespiritt: Finding Mermaid Treasure 🧜‍♀️🐚🌈 Abalone shells are highly prized around the world as natural gemstones, admired for their vibrant, rainbow like colors. Their shimmering iridescence comes from microscopic layers of nacre also called mother of pearl, primarily made of the mineral aragonite. These layers bend and reflect light to create the shell’s colorful glow. Finding an Abalone like this was so magical, but we happily returned it to the sea since it’s a part of the protected and cherished environment of Catalina Island. 🌊❤️
