Iirc, they DID find two juvenile skeletons when they were doing some renovations on the Tower of London, but the royal family refused to let DNA testing be done. They found them in a wall or something. Idk if I’m remembering that correctly though and don’t have a source 😭💀

I don’t think Richard acted alone with the plot against the two boys. I mean he couldn’t become king if the boys are in the way. So something had to be done. Or Anne his wife might’ve been apart of it to because she couldn’t be Queen either if the boys are in the way. Or Margaret Beaufort might’ve played a had without knowing Richard was also plotting (but not quite positive on that one but not ruling her out. ) just because she was very adament of getting King Henry 6th on the throne at any cost.

If the marriage was illegitimate as Richard claims, then why would he need to 💀 the boys. But I wholeheartedly believe that’s exactly what he did.

The royal family won't do DNA because it will do one of three things in this case: 1. prove intentionally 💀 kids making their family/ancestors look terrible, 2. prove it wasn't the boys and make people feel like there's a different claim to their throne (despite legal reasons the boys descendants wouldn't be) or 3. bring up questions of illegitimacy for the current royals. Any public DNA from the study also will bring up a lot more discussion about why that family in particular are still ruling and given wealth. Ignoring the question means not having to deal with all the difficulties it brings up.

With hygiene the way it was back then, it might not have even truly been neglect - the boys could have simply caught some kind of parasite/disease from bad meat, tainted drinking water, etc. The crown didn’t want to admit that something had happened (even if natural causes), so covered it up. Would murder plots be more exciting - of course. Are they any more plausible than covering up a death from natural causes/common diseases of the time period - not really.

I personally think he killed them before he got them in legitimized because he killed them and he needed a out so when for Edward v. to be the king people wouldn't go looking for him because he wouldn't have claimed to the throne if that makes sense
