The film is quite simple, except that Mima is the protagonist, and her point of view, due to her mental health issues, makes her an unreliable narrator. Mima was an idol, but since she's now an "adult," she's forced to retire. Because she doesn't want to leave the entertainment world, she becomes an actress. The issue is that it's a very violent transition. Idols are basically expected to be pure, innocent, and naive like children. But the diapers Mima receives are violent, something she's not used to. It doesn't help that she has a stalker who knows absolutely everything she does. Due to the stress and the strange things happening around them, Mima develops multiple personality disorder. This is why we can't trust what Mima sees; she's often hallucinating. Now, don't confuse Mima's personality, who is dressed in pink, with Rumi's, who is represented in red. The twist in the story is that the stalker we thought was the real one wasn't actually two people, and the one who manipulated the other was Rumi, who also has a disorder and begins to believe she is Mima. Rumi was also in the past a former idol who was forced to retire and she never got over it. That's why Rumi believed she was Mima, and that the real Mima was a fake.
