yes he did get clean for a while. I've met ozzy dozens of times interviewed him 3x and done many many meet n greets so I've seen him sober and blitzed. don't assume he was so clean at the end though.

He had his DNA analyzed and it showed he had an abnormal tolerance for drugs and alcohol. He metabolized it faster than some one with a normal tolerance. He did get clean, for periods, then went back to it. He relapsed when Sharon got sick with cancer, then got clean again. He never really stopped trying to stay clean.
