This is absolutely your own mistake, however le creuset support can be amazing sometimes, if you email them and tell them the genuine mistake then maybe they will replace it for you as a one off.

Everyone in the comments is just waffling. I use my le creuset on my stove top all the time and this has never happened. It even says in the manual and on their website you can.
