From my understanding without emancipation, if a child gets married to someone who is considered the adult their new spouse is considered their guardian. This means they cant make decisions for themselves, including filing for divorce.

As an American forced to child marriage survivor, thank you for this awareness! Over 300,000 child marriages happened between 2000-2018 alone. There was also an increase in child marriages in 2020. Child marriage can be considered modern day slavery. Its a human rights abuse and legalized child trafficking. We need to demand changes! 48 Texas house representatives voted no to ending child marriage this past May. HB168 I have personally contacted every single one yet most don't reply. This needs to be a public outrage!
