How to respond to harsh feedback from your manager… At some point, we are probably going to find ourselves on the receiving end of poorly packaged feedback. Many managers don’t yet have the skills required to give constructive developmental feedback. Therefore it’s important we learn the skills to receive this type of feedback so you can extract what might be useful. 💡Feedback can be poorly packaged but it doesn’t mean there isn’t something useful inside the package Just like being able to give feedback is a skill, being able to receive feedback is also a skill. In a situation like the one demonstrated in this video: 1️⃣ Avoid getting defensive and instead take control of the conversation and guide it in the direction you want it to go. 2️⃣ Slow the conversation down by the energy you bring. 3️⃣ Let your manager know you want to hear their feedback and then communicate HOW they can best deliver it to you. This skill of being able to regulate your emotions and instead of getting defensive take back control of the conversation will take you far. 💬 Have you ever been in a situation like this?
