An Art Director wanted to hired Dali to do a number of paintings as story boards for a commercial, they had him first quote on say around two dozen paintings. The number for the work was very high so the Art Director thought if he limited the number of paintings it would reduce the price for the ad. Dali gave them the new quote and in Dali fashion it was the exact same price 💰.

I read that (at least once) he did not sign the check with his doodle. When asked to sign he would have replied « I am only paying for the meal not for the whole restaurant » 😝
