We often take for granted the massive sacrifices made just to get us where we are today. ​Allah (SWT) says in the Qur’an: ​"And We have enjoined upon man [care] for his parents. His mother carried him, in weakness upon weakness..." — Surah Luqman (31:14) ​A man once asked the Prophet (ﷺ), "Who among the people is most deserving of my good companionship?" The Prophet (ﷺ) replied: "Your mother." The man asked, "Then who?" The Prophet (ﷺ) said: "Your mother." The man asked, "Then who?" The Prophet (ﷺ) said: "Your mother." The man asked a fourth time, "Then who?" The Prophet (ﷺ) replied: "Then your father." (Sahih al-Bukhari 5971) ​Three times the mother is mentioned first because of the continuous strain of pregnancy, birth, and early care that only she carries. ​Never skip making this Du’a for them: رَّبِّ ارْحَمْهُمَا كَمَا رَبَّيَانِي صَغِيرًا “Rabbir hamhuma kama rabbayani sagheera” (My Lord, have mercy upon them as they brought me up when I was small. - 17:24) ​May Allah grant our parents health, forgive their sins, and grant them the highest rank of Jannah.
