@janieleigh11: Painted shells are toxic to hermit crabs, yet unfortunately so many are sold in them. Why? Because they make better marketing to kids. So it’s important our hermies switch out of those painted shells asapppp. And into a natural shell🐚✨🫶🏼 Have a plethora of shell options in different sizes available to your hermit crabs so they can find the right fit. Make sure each hermit crab has at least 5 options of appropriate size for themself! To help entice them to change into a natural shell: boil some water with a scoop of instant ocean to create salt water, add your shells for a few minutes and then let them air dry. Then add to tank! Be patient! We can’t force them to change shells. hey so my smallest crab changed shells the date we got her, but she keeps digging down into the sand and my mom refuses to think that she might be molting and so everytime pebble (the crab) digs down, my mom digs her up, and everytime I try to tell my mom that pebble might be molting, she gets mad and says she isn't. I also never really see pebble move, she'salways in her shell, so I never see her eat or anything, I've only seen her dig down a few times. but do you think you could help me understand what pebble is doing?

its so hard to get hermit crab stuff for my crabs since i got them from florida at petsmart, im close to the dc area so i have to go out far for shells, one recently died and i only have one left im trying so hard to find places with hermit crabs so if anyone knows please lmk 😞
