bro was like 'yeah no' 😂 seriously though, australian meat pies absolutely need tomato sauce because they taste so one dimensional but chinese meat pies do not. i can understand homesickness and want sauce on the pie though.

The vinegar in ketchup can cut the greasiness, saltiness, and sometimes the funkiness in meaty food. One main reason ketchup goes well with fried is that it cleans the palate from too much richness making feel like ur taking a bite the first time again

As an Australian who has never liked tomato sauce on pies or sausage rolls, I got excited at their version of a meat pie, and would happily eat it au naturale!

Never knew you Australian have that thing with Tomato Sauce...its like us Indonesian with our Spicy Sauce (Chili paste that we bring everywhere and put with anything)

im not australian but i love putting ketchup on everything, i always carry extra sachets in my luggage when i travel becos cant trust everywhere to hav them 😂

I lived in Indonesia for 7 years and help organise an AFL GrandFinal function each September for 500-1000ppl. Always at a fancy hotel. We served Aussie Meat Pies as part of the menu for the day, often had to give the hotel chef the recipe! We requested tomato sauce condiment, but the local staff kept trying to serve them with chilli sauce 😂 Definitely a highlight of the day along with Arnotts tim tams Shapes and mint slice bickies…the things you miss from home.
