That’s clearly not a split in frame he’s built the door frame up with a stop latt to get over the plaster I would think. Personally I would do a double quirk the same size as my arc

I never use tape, just make small markings, always been good with spacial awareness so can pretty much mark handle holes by eye. Never see any marks once installed.
