@mydebtconfession: After starting this debt payoff journey I really started to find ways to save and pay extra on debt. I owe over $57k on my car and pay $1100 per month. I went to have it appraised and they offered $40k 🤔😱#debtpayoffjourney #financialliteracy #debtpayoff #TikTokLearningCampaign #financialadvice
Betcha it’s not a Toyota or Lexus. Those cars depreciate very little.

I bought a 2017 Corolla in 2021 for 13,500. It’s still worth 13,000. Also have a 07 Chevy Avalanche that I bought in 2012 for 16,000. Still worth about 9500. I would never buy a new vehicle

Sell it, in 2 years you’ll still owe a ton and it will be worth even less. Buy a 20k car and pay the 17k bad decision debt. Total is 37k debt vs 57k.

If you bought it new it's nobody's fault but yours. Always buy a car that at least 2-3 yrs old. The major depreciation has already happened. You will get upside down fast buying new.

So, refinance it. Get the lower payment but continue to pay the 1,100. that will pay it off sooner

Unfortunately, cars are depreciating assets and that’s one of the reasons when you buy such an expensive car you’ve got to make sure your budget can support it and also think of what ifs or uncertainties in the long run

This is why my dad always drilled into me to never buy a new car (instant depreciation when you drive off the lot) or to get a car loan. Cars aren’t a financial asset - they don’t appreciate in value (typically). Buy a car that gets you from point a to point b until you can actually afford something “nice.”

Cars are depreciating asset for anyone who doesn’t know. It’s not usually a good investment. Buy in your means or below.

Private sale will get you more. And not knowing that your car depreciates at your age is wild.
