@_shawn_adams_: Architecture firm SOM has submitted plans for a 20-storey building at 1 Silk Street, directly opposite the Barbican’s Silk Street entrance, proposing a major new development adjacent to London’s iconic Barbican Centre. The scheme, designed for developer Lipton Rogers would involve demolishing the existing 1980s office complex comprising Milton House and Shire House, two interlinked towers designed by the Fitzroy Robinson Partnership, completed in 1982 and refurbished by Sheppard Robson between 1994 and 1996. According to reports in The Architects’ Journal and Building Design (BD), the redevelopment would deliver a pair of new buildings providing around 91,000 square metres of commercial space, along with 2,200 square metres dedicated to retail and community use. #architecture #architecturenews #london #londonnews #architect
