@missy23232: Not hearing back after your interview? Don’t panic — timing matters. If the recruiter gave you a timeline, wait 24 hours after that deadline before following up. Be direct in your email. If you still don’t have a response after 48 hours you can follow up one more time. It shows you’re interested, engaged, and respectful of the process. A thoughtful follow-up keeps you top of mind and top candidates always stay visible. Let’s work together to land your next opportunity! I have to disagree. 2nd email looks desperate. If the company wants you, they know how to reach you.

I landed an awesome job within 2 months of looking. What worked for me is sending out a thank you email about 4 hours after the interview. That doesn’t seem desperate. Desperate would be within the first hour after the interview. Sending it 4hrs after is allowing them to keep you fresh in their mind. I always tried to get interviews in the morning around 9am or 10am. This way, when I send my thank you email, I send it to them the same day I interviewed (4 hrs later). I interviewed with 4 companies, two offered me jobs & I turned them down because not enough money or good enough benefits, 1 job I got a reject email 5 days after the interview & the other company hired me 1 day after the interview. All 4 thank you emails were sent 4hrs after the interview. Also, when you have an interview in the morning, I tend to think the interviewer is more “awake” & attentive to you. If you have an interview around 2pm or 3pm, the interviewer could be tired by then because of interviewing others already that day. Then, sending out a thank you email 4hrs after an interview you had at 2pm may not be read until the next day where they may not have you fresh in their mind. Just sharing what I believe worked for me!

if i had an final interview Wednesday and it’s now friday night is that normal not to hear from them yet? The VP said she will circle back with the lady who interviewed me last week. Is that a good sign?

Offer to 2 people? What if both accept? Never heard of that. It’s usually the preferred candidate than if they reject onto the second maybe that’s what you meant.

How does this apply if you interview right before the holidays I was told 7 to 10 days for response but that temp day was December 26. I don’t wanna be pushy but what is an appropriate timeline to follow up?

I always follow up right away after an interview. Thanking them for their time and reinforcing my skills are right for the job.

Went to an internal promotional interview in another department couple of days ago. During which, HR and the hiring managers were there. Should I send an email or just wait? The waiting game is so stressful!

Should I email the recruiter or hiring manager? Or both with the recruiter cc’ed? I just finished a third and what I was told “final interview” a week ago.

@Steebabbo: What if you had a conversation with a hiring manager as a referral from someone and there is not a specific role or posted job. The convo was more an introduction and discussion following a layoff. The person I spoke to said follow up late next week, I want to have some internal convo about 2026 planning. I followed up and …nothing.

There’s no point in sending follow-up more emails it won’t change the company’s decision. If they want to offer you the job, they will contact you.

Is following up the same day a bad idea? I had an interview today at 10am and was considering following up by the end of today’s business day. Is this appropriate?
