I hated him so much in part one. I was so close to DNF and im so glad i didnt. The second you start to get context changes everything, this is such a beautifully sad, heart wrenching, novel.

Flashback spoilers but he was always so adamant about her willing participation in everything they did (training, conversations, intimacy, healing) and he actually listened to the boundaries she set, made adjustments to make her life easier and was the only person who treated her like a person. Part 1 is devastating in retrospect.
