I’m working 196ish hours a month in EM and spending where you practice you can do it for a while but not forever. Not to mention the flipping from nights to days, weekend, holidays, managing a family, etc.

Compared to the surgery rotation I’m on rn, 48 hours a week isnt that bad at all. That salary is definitely not typical for 1 year out of training i feel like, but I’m just a student so my knowledge on negotiating is limited. I’m thinking they were very well connected.

As a fellow ED doc… hell no. They have no appreciable deductions and end up paying more in taxes. Their final take home is far less than an equivalent 1099 doc. My market is $250/h to $350/h… NEVER WORK SALARY. 🤢🤢🤢🤮
