@propublica: In 2016, the Mississippi River broke through a levee in Alexander County, Illinois, and wiped out 1,200 acres of Steve Williams’ farmland. He signed up for a federal program in 2019 to retire the damaged fields. But instead of help, he and his daughter Brandy Williams Renshaw spent years farming the unfarmable, because that’s what the system required to survive.
Listen to @Brandy Williams Renshaw explain how she and her dad dealt with not just the devastation of their farmlands and a buyout process that dragged on for years, but also the loss of a legacy and generations of memories. #farm #farmers #flood #illinois #southernillinois

Homeowners and landowners across the country are devastated, left homeless and or financially ruined by municipalities not maintaining infrastructure, hiding behind “once in a lifetime” weather events, corrupt insurance companies & laws prohibiting homeowners from suing these negligently “managed” municipalities. ENOUGH w this Oligarch-First World we find ourselves in. We MUST stick together and fight this corruption.

This is all about millions. How about all the homeowners in California, louisiana, North Carolina? How about a cap on taxpayers subsidies. Ex large enough so she can get an education for a retraining and a new livelihood.

So you more than likely voted Republican and they wrote a whole ass book about this. Who was your president in 2016, and you thought it would be different. Have the farming season you voted for.

Alexander County voted 59.1% for 🍊👹. You get what you vote for. If she wasn’t in that majority, she’s in the same boat as the rest of us. If she was in that majority, OH WELL.🤷🏾♀
