Technically, if his life wasn’t in danger he ought to have let them steal the car. Sounds crazy I know but I think the laws are worded such that Firearms are for danger to life only not property necessarily.

Wow this is exactly why when you get your firearm loook deeply into your state laws and when it is reasonable to use deadly force. A lot of the time people get thrown in prison because the justice system can be a joke.
