@hr_explained: Replying to @greeneyez FMLA does not cover time off due to the death of a loved one. You can get continuous or intermittent FMLA for conditions you may have that are related to that event. Anxiety, depression, PTSD, sleep disorders etc can all qualify for FMLA and some people experience these when a loved one passes. You may be in a state that mandates bereavement time and/or offers paid leave. I recommend checking before this happens to you so you’re not trying to research this while grieving. #humanresources #hrtiktok #corporatelife #disability #anxietyrelief

My company had 1 day bereavement when I started. They have now given us 7 whole days 🤔
My personal opinion is that bereavement should be MINIMUM 2 weeks.

My company gives a whopping 4 days of bereavement for an immediate family member. That’s not even time to process and bury them.

I was able to take FMLA when my dad was dying for anxiety and depression. Was able to use my STD benefits to pay my salary as it was a covered medial issue.

CA does offer protected bereavement time off but not with pay. Many employers do offer BP & to her point if there is PTSD (for example) employees in CA qualify for SDI (insurance)
