They can't really advise you on where to go unless they are in partnership with a place/your bag is under warranty because they could be liable for any damage caused by said repair shop. Stores try to steer clear of this sort of thing.

In Hungary we have a porcelain manufacturer called Herendy. We have a really old spice set from them. My mum has RA and she once slipped and broke the top of one. She wrote to the manufacturer (they're all hand made) to see if we could replace it. She wrote about how sad she was. They sent one for free. The set is 40yo. We cried.

they won't direct you in writing to an unofficial repair shop imo. cause that might cause complications for them if the repair is unsuccessful. the staff in the store might help /if they want to/.

In italy we have so many good leather artisans, bring the bag to italy with you and find a good leather shop. For what I can remember there are a few in Capri

High-end companies are not gonna refer you out. the reason is if they refer someone and they do damage to your product you could hold them liable for the referral.

Not local to you but fully qualified is leather spa in NYC. Look them up. They should be able to assist you.

there is a bag craftsman, from Italy I believe, who posts on tick tock all the time. his bags are as good as any of the designer bags that are out there. he takes some of them apart to confirm that his bags are that good. why don't you do some homework on your own girl, do a little tick tock searching, and you'll find somebody in your European travels who can fix this for you. unless all you know is the retail stores. and if that's all you know, then you could just going to have to go buy a new bag.
