If air traffic controllers and TSA employees don’t show up for work, they’re violating their oath and participating in an illegal job action. This is similar to 1981 when the controllers violated their oath and staged an illegal strike. Public safety employees can’t hold the country hostage because they’re not getting what they want. Can police officers and soldiers not show up because they’re not getting their paychecks exactly when they want them? They haven’t even missed a paycheck yet. They’ll all get paid every dime they’re owed when this is over. It’s happened before under several other presidents. A job action is a form of worker protest where employees engage in actions to disrupt or slow down work to pressure their employer to meet certain demands, such as better pay or working conditions. This includes actions like wearing union clothing, refusing overtime, organizing meetings, or signing petitions, but most commonly refers to strikes or work slowdowns.
