As a caribbean I have to agree 100%. Not many of us actually knew real Africans when we were growing up so we romanticized the continent. Mistake.

"we are not them" PanAfricanism is for Africans after all. It shouldn't be forced down the throat of others ,it's a choice.

If they chose that then they were that. We don’t refute that there were people enslaved from Africa, I just never felt that connection and always stood on the side of the ninja they love to hate. I embraced my ghetto roots. I love everything us. I never liked the garments, headdress nor the colors which clash with my complexion by the way.Iykyk

Soulaan tribalism is the only reason we’ve survived this long. Seeing one another as inherently kin—connected through our shared skin, history, and struggle—kept us unified when everything else was stripped away. We believed that bond would naturally extend to others in the African diaspora. But instead of solidarity, our outstretched hand was met with rejection. They sided with our oppressors and disrespected our culture, forgetting that the same blood that built this land runs through us all.

I have no issues with the rest of the Diaspora. I have family across both continents and throughout the Caribbean. So when I say “We,” I truly mean all of us. The challenge arises when the sum of WE gets in the door—and some selectively forget about me. Black Americans built, fought, and extended a bridge to the greater Diaspora in an effort to uplift and unify our communities. Too often, that generosity hasn’t been reciprocated—or even acknowledged. Unity, inclusion, and collaboration were always our foundation. Some—not all—have mistaken that kindness for weakness. Collectively, we can do so much better

No, they misinterpreted it because I was a teenager when this whole thing started and it was just to collaborate, like you said, with our black brothers and sisters and try to help according to what YTE America was showing us that was happening there. We were Trying to give them some of the advantages that we know were here and it all got twisted. One thing for sure they neednt think for a second that we were looking to them for identity because that's not even close to being the case. All it's doing is making us regret our efforts.
