It is so pilots can learn to fly blind and use their instruments. Flying through clouds or at night over the ocean can cause pilots to get disoriented, if they dont know how to use their instruments to fly. For those who dont know.

ok genuinely when flying i never look out the front my eyes are always locked on the altimeter and compass like ONE SECOND i look away and ive drifted down over 1000 feet and going left instead of straight
