It’s not just the admin and lesson prep it’s the disrespect from students and parents that’s causing stress.. we need a cultural change in education where there is respect for teachers and what they do!

If any of these hating comments are parents, I would loveeeee to know how you would manage 25 x your teenage child for 8 hours a day, trying to get them to do work. Most of you can’t get them to unload the dishwasher without attitude yet you undermine teachers that do your parenting job for 8 hours a day. So yes, we get holidays. But much like you enjoy (and need) a break, teachers to do.

People don't understand it's not just teaching, it's getting paid 5 hours a day for teaching, meetings, PDs, marking (often done on holidays), lesson planning (also on holidays), unit planning behaviour management, differentiating work so all students can learn, meeting the quota for students passing (and those students don't always show up to school), incorporating the ACARA cross-curriculum priorities, general capabilities, and the APSTs

Honestly, our students are horrible. The amount of students I’ve seen be absolutely disrespectful and making kids cry is inexcusable. We need a change of culture ASAP before we run out of teachers

Let's just remember all the crying parents during COVID & home learning who could not deal with their own children. Most of the parents could not cope. Teaching is one of the most self sacrificing jobs. Very sad to see the community still holds the profession in such low regard.
