Hard to say. His substance abuse was apparent. I live in Richmond & learned some things. He lived at the Swann Tavern for sometime & drank heavily & used opium. The absinthe myth was debunked. He had numerous health conditions. The clothing issue could have been anything. He could have disrobed & put on other clothes. Trains stopped in Baltimore so he may have just gotten off there
