Yuppp. Set my boundaries, excluded myself from dates, his family gatherings, etc where I felt so dysregulated, and he wants a divorce now.

Even if you take space, come back they don’t acknowledge or accept that they are even defensive. That’s when the attempt for gaslighting comes in. It’s a cycle of no accountability!

“When I say no I feel guilty” helped me soooo much with this!! I needed specific phrases to understand and handle the defensiveness. Thank you thank you!

Reconnecting sometimes feels like giving up on myself because if he “abandoned” me emotionally when I explain how much his distancing is painful, then is reconnecting before he changes or takes accountability sending the message I am over it? But I also want to be open to efforts on his part to reconnect?

Do you mean “do what you need to do to stay regulated” even if it’s taking extra space like not driving to the wedding together? Or in an extreme case not putting yourself in that situation aka separating?

My husband perceives every question or topic I bring up as an attack. Even if I send him a TikTok he assumes the worst possible intention. Seems like a stupid question but is that considered defensiveness?
