OpenAI tries not to write software on purpose. The shortest path of delivering some value to businesses is simply less meaningful work than coming up with new ways of building models that may or may not have direct business use-cases. Yet they still get pissy when a fancy UI like Cursor profits more off their open-weight for-profit licensed models than they do.
