@dariusryankadem: You can’t teach a 3.5 year old to have integrity through rules or reminders, but you can wait a year for them to make sense of it. Integrity is abstract. A three-and-a-half-year-old can’t grasp it through words alone. They have to live it, feel it, practise it. To grow integrity, a child needs three skills: Self-awareness, so they understand their own motives. Self-control, so they can manage their impulses. Respect for others, so they value people’s boundaries.

Honestly, I get the message about teaching kids empathy, but sometimes I wonder if that even works in today’s world. There’s so much selfishness out there that being too kind can feel like a disadvantage. Maybe instead of only teaching empathy, we should also teach kids to be strong, assertive, and able to protect themselves. Empathy is great, but without strength and boundaries, it can turn into weakness in a world that doesn’t always play fair.😅
