I’m all for immigration — this country was built on it. My family came here from Italy generations ago, and they did it the right way, legally. That’s all anyone’s asking. My grandfather fought in World War II and he drilled into me that laws matter. We don’t get to pick which ones we follow. People talk about deportation like it’s some shocking thing, but what do you expect? If you’re in a country illegally, that’s the consequence — that’s not cruelty, that’s law. America is one of the most forgiving nations on Earth when it comes to immigration. There are countries that would throw you in jail for the same thing. I respect hard-working people from every background, but respect goes both ways. If millions of us have to follow the law every single day, everyone else should too. That’s how a country stays a country.
