Those glasses have nothing to do with it. They simply go on over regular glasses. My dad has a pair and it saves him having to buy prescription sunglasses.

When their visual depth perception plus ability to recognize situations that require prompt attention and quick proper reactions fall below reasonable safety levels. I've known people who needed their car keys taken away in their 50s, and people who were still expertly flying aircraft in their 80s. Functional testing, not arbitrary age should be the criteria.

Really depends on the person. I'm more scared of a new driver. We have a 4 way stop near our house and the amount of times I've seen a teenage looking driver just blow thru without stopping at all.

You can’t be discriminating age wise. There are many capable older drivers. And many incompetent younger drivers who seem to think they’re playing video games.

I'm fine with not being able to drive. due to my vision. I stopped driving probably 5 years ago and I just turned 70. I think that the people who drive trucks that pull trailers. you know the travel trailers and the people that drive these big huge RVs need to take commercial driving class because where I live at least once a month there's an accident on a freeway. people first start to go on a bridge coming down a hill and I cannot tell you the number of times that people lose their trailer because they don't have control.

Once you get to a certain age you have to take the driving test yearly. At least in Illinois.

I borrowed my 91-year-old mother’s car when mine was in the shop. Every corner was scratched or dented. She had used nail polish to hide the scratches. That was it! I didn’t return it to her. My brother and I told her we were keeping her and the public safe. My brother sold her car and gave her the money. 💰 She was not happy, but she understood.

I think first test should be 65 and it should be the physician’s call. Maximum time limits would be every 5 years after that. Require doctor’s notes to renew. Doctor must include motor, cognitive, and vision test.

Hahaha I’m 70 and my oldest jokes that when she comes to me and tells me it’s time to give up my keys, to believe her. Now I do still work full time and work in the office 5 days a week
