@mmadrigallsresearch: Gastroparesis is when the stomach stops moving. For many of us with EDS, POTS, and MCAS, eating becomes a daily battle between survival and pain. The more we talk about it, the less people suffer in silence. #chronicillness #ehlersdanlos #connectivetissuedisorder #gastroparesis #dysautonomia
What’s the hardest thing you’ve experienced with Gastroparesis?

BLACKING OUT AFTER EATING??? For no apparent reason. BP and sugar are fine but will get lethargic and then just black out from one second to the next. and stay that way for HOURS -- not fainting for a few seconds. This is just being LIGHTS OUT FOR HOURS

I was told recently I have borderline Gastroparesis and I’m angry because I’ve tired to get help with the hypermobility but never heard of the connection. 😡

You also have to factor in Median Arcuate ligament syndrome, which often accompanies EDS, and is extremely underdiagnosed.

Ok, what if I am diagnosed with severe gastroparesis without diabetes. No nausea. After 4 hours I still have 50% or more food in my stomach. I still feel hungry

I finally got to see a gastroenterologist and he spent 5 minutes TOTAL with me, just told me to try FODMAP when I listed my severe symptoms, I was so angry I gave up. But I was put on gabapentin for neck pain and the nausea I had every day since 16 improved massively. Symptoms reduced a lot. Didn’t realise it can be used off label for gastroparesis
