It’s my birthday today, and I have spent most of the day meditating and reflecting back on my life these past years. You know, it’s a funny thing, spending years pretending to be a centuries-old vampire really does something to you. Playing Nandor the Relentless on What We Do in the Shadows has been one of the wildest, most rewarding, and downright ridiculous rides of my career. I’ve lived in his fangs and velvet cloaks for so long that sometimes I catch myself slipping into his accent while ordering coffee. (Yes, I’ve asked a barista if they serve the “blood of the innocent”, not my proudest moment.) Nandor has taught me a lot though… mostly that immortality comes with a lot of paperwork, emotional confusion, and an endless desire to find a familiar who actually listens. But beyond the laughs and the absurdity, playing him has strangely become a mirror for rediscovering parts of myself. He’s insecure, loyal, dramatic, and a bit lost… and honestly, who can’t relate to that? Now that we’ve wrapped up this chapter, it’s going to take me a little while to shake off the fangs and remember how to be just Kayvan again. I’ve gotten so used to living in a world of vampires, werewolves, and energy drainers that normal life feels suspiciously… human. Still, I wouldn’t trade it for anything. This character has left a mark (pun intended), and I’ll always be grateful for the chaos, the laughs. So here’s to Nandor, my immortal alter ego. May he enjoy his nap in his coffin until further notice. 🧛‍♂️💫 And to all my fans all over the world. The way you love me is so special, it feels surreal and I am truly humble and blessed to have such a loving fanbase that money can't buy. Stay relentless, you magnificent bastards.
