She just won’t where shoes with shoes laces until she ready to learn. Not really failing as a parent if you don’t teach them right away to tie shoes.

Teacher here…For people asking what age. You should be starting to teach them this motor skill in preschool and they should be able to tie their shoes by kindergarten. My kindergartner is still learning and struggles with tying.. he almost has it

Teachers ask for Velcro if kids don’t know how to tie their shoes (cus that’s up to the parent) —parents always forget it’s not just their kid teachers have to worry about lol—but you’re doing it now so you’re good!

I learned at 5 from another student in kindergarten. Shout out to Tamara, whenever you are! That said, my son is 9 and still can’t do it with confidence. Looks like this is my first purchase on pay day!

I learned when I had 4. Before kindergarten. Not that you should be embarrassed or shamed but it is really important that they are learning fine motor skills. it’s a generational societal problem.
